We try to put some Hebrew study into each Shul that we do.
Erev Shabbat, August 19nth Shul Location Hastings Township from 6:30-830PM @ Brother David Olson's home - An excellent Shul truly worth the drive to fellowship with our fellow Yisraelite brothers and sisters. The drive up was beautiful and scenic. We thank the Olson family for their gracious hosting. The shul started with fellowship and Hebrew materials perusal. Some material were dispensed for the upcoming Hebrew studies. We are going to begin working on The First Hebrew Primer By Ethelyn Simon, Irene Resnikoff, and Linda Motzkin. I had five copies of this book as well as the CD audio version and the answer key. I will be ordering more materials for anyone who wishes to add to the order from EKS PUBLISHING. After the hebrew discussions and the swapping of materials for study, we started the dinner which was a traditional Shabbat style , kiddush, Challa bread, Shabbat candle lighting, question and answer to the children, and the special blessings being recited. We were truly blessed by the RUACH HA KODESH as we entered into the SHABBAT and enjoyed the fellowship as well as the meal afterwards. (special thanks to sister Debbie Olson for her excellent culinary skills!) Once the dinner was finished, we moved into the living room and began the Torah Portion, from Torah Parsha 45 VaEtchanan 3:23-7:11 Haftarah Yeshayahu 40:1-26 Brit Chadasha Moshe-Markus 12:28-34 Mattiyahu 4:1-11. This is one of the best Parsha in that is contains the famous SHEMA and we discussed the implications of the SHEMA for our lives. Much of the discussions revolved around the themes within this weeks portion. We finished around 9:30PM and bid everyone shalom farewell. We then started the journey back home. We hope to have opportunity to fellowship again.
Shabbat, August 27nth Shul Location Hillsdale from 1:00-4:30 PM. Shul started with some good comments about the weeks activities including listening to the mp3 file about the Nephilim by an Irish chap by the name of Patrick Heron and his book The Nephilim and the Pyramid of the Apocalypse We also discussed the upcoming Israeli clothing exhibit in Grand Rapids. We hope that at least one of us can make it to see that as it may prove to be informative. The Gaza pullout was discussed. Torah Parsha 46 Ekev 7:12-11:25 Haftarah Yeshayahu 49:14-51:3, 52:1-15 Brit Chadasha Luka 4:1-13 was discussed and read. We digressed on fiery serpents, and other mysteries of the earth including but not limited to Dinosaurs and Dragons, perhaps one and the same. The exodus to ISRAEL came up and the timing of it whether it be one deluge of people or small pockets of people into the land. Some Hebrew materials were dispensed and we discussed our studies in that regard, of which we are progressing nicely. After the first section of the Parsha was read, we had a beautiful dinner of Grilled Tilapia and Grilled Maui Maui fish filets, with rice and pea mixture, as well as some great bread and fruit sides. (special thanks for the hands that prepared the food! ) . We made plans to meet again next Erev Shabbat where we will bring side dishes and enjoy the steaks and beef burgers ,courtesy of Brother James in Waldron. All and all, this Shul was refreshing and energizing as we keep the command to "assemble" ourselves with our other fellow Yisraelite brothers and sisters.
