Erev Shabbat December 19th, Location Orangeburg South Carolina HMI Location 6:30PM-9:00PM Parsha 9 Vayeshev (and he settled)  20 Dec 2008 23 Kislev 5769 Gen 37:1–40:23 Alef Melachim/1st KINGS 20,  Romans 3 This Parsha was about how Jacob settled in the land and the events that led up to beforetheir sojourn in Egypt, as Joseph, the favored brother was sold into slavery. Jacob told that Joseph was dead, mourned for him year after year. The different personalities of the brothers came out and this was discussed as we see the Reuben wanted to save Joseph and ferry him privily back to his father safe and sound, but Simeon was the one who chiefly wanted to kill Joseph.  Some discussion about the character of Simeon and Levi in the preceding chapters of Bereshite when these two boys were involved in the Shechem massacre, angering their father Jacob.  The character of Joseph was discussed as it seemed that no matter what happened to Joseph, YHWH blessing him and magnified him in the eyes of those who were evaluating them, creating advancement wherever he went, even in prison.  Some parallels to the modern church as they are gentile looking, like Joseph became in Egypt, was discussed.  Josephs coat of many colors was discussed and tied into the remnant of the House of Israel being of every color shade, doing away with any type of racist doctrine as we are all naturalized into the commonwealth of Israel when we accept the Messiah.
