STUDIES IN JANUARY 07!

Yom Shabbat January 27th 2007, Location Jackson Michigan at 1:00-5:00PM! Parsha 15 Bo “Come” January 27, 2007 8 Sh’vat 5767 Exodus 10:1–13:16, Shophtim 1, Mattiyahu 25.  Parsha 15 Shemot/Exodus 10:1-13:16 10:2 The plagues were given more for Israel's sake then for the Egyptians. Bro. Carry presented a timeline for Israel's exile which begins with Abraham's lodging in the land of Canaan,  during which time would have been under Egyptian overseeing. Thus marking the beginning of the 470 years exile. This could possibly account for Moses' mother being born on the way into Egypt as some have suggested 10:29 Moshe tells Pharaoh that he (Moses) would not see Pharaoh's face again. Yet in 11:4-8 Moses has apparently come before Pharaoh again. Did he refuse to look upon Pharaoh's face while he spoke these words? 12:9 Moshe K. mistranslates this verse to read 'cooked', following after the traditional translations i.e. KJV discussion) could this have meant fried? (having read this verse in J.H. Hertzes'  Pentateuch and HafTorahs, I find that they have only two negative restrictions; they are: " not to eat it raw" and "nor sodden (boiled) at all with water.") 12:24 another mistranslation, which should read "chukim" rather then "mishpat". Complete different concepts. According to the Hebrew lexicon discussion) It is important for us to study and know Hebrew because one Hebrew word can mean many different concepts combined rather then just the impression one English word conveys. This is one of the things that sets The Restoration Scriptures apart. 12:38 the mixed multitude included Egyptians, servants from other nations, and possibly Greek and other western Europeans. discussion- Israel received 'unmerited favor' in their deliverance. We see this all the way back to Adam and Eve. They didn't do anything to deserve to have been put into the Garden of Eden. 13:12 we have seen this mention of the 'bachor' , the first born; throughout this passage, yet there is no indication that it is limited to the first born males. Could this mean that even firstborn daughters were among these 'bachor'? discussion) Rameses was being built when Israel left Egypt. Pharaoh's son would have been placed in Pharaoh's tomb since Pharaoh apparently died in the sea with the rest of his army. Most likely person to be "King Tut" the boy king. Tanach reading: Judges/Shophtim 1(no discussions) Brit Chadasha: Matthew/Mattiyahu 25 (no discussions recorded) Feasted on chicken wings, potatoe salad, cole slaw, mac and cheese, and various deserts. Much warm fellowship. (notes courtesy of Brother James)

Yom Shabbat January 20th 2007, Location outside Hillsdale Michigan 1:00-5:0 0PM! Parsha 14 Va’era “And I appeared” January 20, 2007 1 Sh’vat 5767 Exodus 6:2–9:35 Yahoshua 24, Mattiyahu 24.  Great fellowship and discussions including but not limited to the question of the nature of the Abomination that was mentioned in Shemoth. Some of the miracles done by the magicians of pharaohs court mirrored some of the miracles done by the hand of Moshe , by the power of YHWH. Joshua gave his last appeal to the Israelites to keep the Teaching of YHWH. Some inquiry into what the sign in the Heavens was gong to be exactly when the Messiah returns.  Some suggested that it might be the white horse spoken of in revelations, with the rider with white hair and fiery eyes, and the other elements to that picture.  Some other ideas discussed regarding that as well.  Further discussion and fellowship then ensued after a great meal.

Yom Shabbat, January 13nth 2007, Location Hillsdale Michigan, 1:00-5:00PM Parsha 13 Shemot “Names” January 13, 2007 23 Tevet 5767 Exodus 1:1–6:1, Yahoshua 23, Mattiyahu 23  The portion was discussed and commented on heavily as the story was one that is known all over the world, that of the plagues of Egypt, and the release of the children of Israel. Some points discussed included how Pharaoh's heart and intentions changed so frequently, and how the midwives were rewarded with the very opposite of the evil that they were commanded to do, the eradication of the Hebrew boys. Some questions on which Pharaoh this was and the time line involved during these tumultuous events. The conversation YHWH had with Moses and how Moses demonstrated character qualities that were less than admirable, Yet YHWH called him to do the job and he did it. The 70 nations equation and how some Rabbinic sources as well as the languages of the world confirm that there are 70 people groups in the earth.  Haf-Torah dealt with the last entreaty of Joshua as he pass on, and how Israel went into the period of the judges as there was no one else that was worthy to carry on the leadership of the entire commonwealth of Israel. Renewed Covenant was more of the altercations between Yahshua, the KING of kings, and the rabbis and scribes of that day. Excellent meal and  fellowship ensued.

Yom Shabbat, January 6th Waldron Location, 1:00-6:00PM Parsha 12 Vayechi “And he lived” January 6, 2007 16 Tevet 5767 Genesis 47:28–50:26 , Yahoshua 22, Mattiyahu 22. Good discussions at this Shul including but not limited questions revolving around the choosing of Ephraim over Manasseh in the matter of the birthright and how it relates to the spiritual concept of the old man versus the new man as well as the implications of that choice. It follows that the older will serve the younger in this situation, which tends to be a theme in the TaNaKh. Comments on the blessing that continued to show how YHWH would propagate the house of Joseph as the sand on the sea shore and the stars in the heavens. Some discussions on Judah and how there are themes in the scriptures related to him. The Hebrew Name Yahshua discussed, and the Esau and Ishmael connections explored including the modern conflict and the character traits of Esau and Ishmael.  Joseph was embalmed but not wrapped according to the religious tenets of the Egyptians according to some sources. The Haf Torah concluded the time when Reuben, Manasseh and Gad erected an altar on their side of the Jordan causing a huge ruckus in the camp of Israel leading to the inquisition of those events on the part of the rest of the Leaders of Israel, which was finally resolved to everyone's satisfaction that indeed there was not intent to have Idolatry or to violate the Laws of YHWH.  Fellowship and great meal ensued. The Renewed Covenant portion showed how Yahshua dealt with the Rabbis at that time, and refuted their ill teaching and violations of Torah, or their complete misunderstanding of it. Fellowship and great meal ensued.
