SERVICES IN JULY 2005

Saturday, July 02, 2005 Jackson Location. Torah Parsha 38 Korach 16:1-18:32 Haftarah Schmuel Alef 11:14-12:22 Brit Chadasha Yahudah 1-25.  The study was started with the opening prayer.  Shema recited. .  Breaking of the bread and the blessing of the wine.  Torah portion was read and discussed.  The instance of Korah who rebelled against Yah's appointed prophet. Hebrew studies - memorization drills from the top one hundred Hebrew flash cards.  More of the discussion of the Torah portion.

Shabbat  July 9nth 2005

Began with fellowship and discussed blessings and trials experienced this past week.
Gave thanks for; and asked YHWH's blessings upon our meal which consisted of goulash, salad, and bread. Also gave blessings to YHWH for the spiritual food we were to receive and asked for the presence of HIS Rauch Ha Kodesh to guide us into perfect understanding of HIS Torah, and HIS will for our lives.
Began Torah study in Bemidbar/Numbers 19:1-:22:1; Parsha 39  "Chukkat".
Discussed the fulfillment of the requirements of the red heifer sacrifice by Yahushua.
i.e. red heifer: parah adumah/ a young cow. Not a calf/not an adult cow.
Sacrificed in it's whole, outside the camp/ Yahushua sacrificed outside the gates of Jerusalem
Red heifer's sacrifice was for purification of uncleanness/ Yahushua's sacrifice to purify us from spiritual uncleanness.
Question: What was the significance of the cedarwood, hyssop, and scarlet mentioned in 19:6

Worth noting:  All who came into contact with this sacrifice and it's resulting ashes became unclean except the unclean person whom the "living" (running, vrs. 17) water; with the ashes of the red heifer added, was sprinkled with. This person was made clean while the priest doing the sprinkling was made unclean. (The uncleanness of the person being sprinkled would have come about by a result of touching a dead person, human bone, or touching a grave in an open field; OR by being present or entering into a tent/house where there was a dead person present.)
Also read the Haftarah: Shophim/Judges 11:1-33; and,
Brit Chadasha: Yochanan/John 3:9-12.
Finished with a reading of Ivrim/Hebrews 9:13.
Discussed the sacrifice of Yahushua and some of the medical implications from such torture.
This lead into a discussion of the frequency with which the Bread and Wine of Remembrance should be taken.
Closed with a discussion of the different denominational backgrounds and some of their doctrines.
A very profitable and spiritual Shabbat indeed. - (notes courtesy of Yac'ob)

Sabbath July  Location - Hillsdale, Hallet Rd. 1:00-4:00PM  Torah Parsha 40 Balak 22:2-25:9 Haftarah Mikah 5:6-6:8 Brit Chadasha Kefa Bet 2:1-22  The Study started with the torah portion.  Prayed and recited the Shema which is found in Deuteronomy 6:8 and is to be recited two times a day.   Discussion on how unclean society has become and how eating unclean animals is associated with baseball and other sports. Dinner was served (special thanks to brother Randy!) Discussion on the Aviv and he barley debate as to when Passover should be done.  Some of us discussed the Jewish pull out of Gaza and the judgment ramifications. Discussion on the feminism in society and its anti-torah bent of our culture.

Sabbath, July 23rd  Shul Location Waldron @ Brother James's Home  1:00PM - 6:00PM  Torah Parsha 41 Pinchus 25:10-29:40 Haftarah Melechim Alef 18:46-19:21 Brit Chadasha Maaseh Shlichim 2:1-21

There was discussion of marriage, accountability, men's and women's roles in a true Torah believing society.  Women of valor from the Torah were discussed -- the wife of Proverbs 31, the woman who was the builder of cities, and Deborah the Judge.  The mistaken suppositions of the role of women, both by non-traditional, radical, feminist society, even within the Church, and by fundamentalist men who do not take into account the roles of women in the Torah.

A wonderful dinner of beef and barley soup, salad, and rosemary/herb bread, a cheese plate, and fresh cherries for dessert, was served by James.  It was all quite yummy.

In verse 33, amongst the lineages, there is mention of a man who had no sons, only daughters.  The daughters are named.  There was a question about whether or not these women were the same daughters who went to Moshe and asked for their inheritance.  The text gave this answer.

Discussion of sacrifices.  There was mention of how the earth and everything in it belongs to YHWH, so His people did not give up a thing, YHWH Himself gave His animals for our sins, and then later His Son.  The animals were innocent, they were not flesh eating animals, the animals were herbivores.

Conversation about how the sacrifices of chapter 29 are sacrifices during a time of fasting, and how difficult it would have been to smell the burning meat when one is hungry.

Discussion of The Half Torah reading (Second Kings) and how the destruction grew worse.  There was a conversation about how YHWH is to be obeyed.  Moses did not follow YHWH's directions to speak to the rock, but struck it twice, and was denied access to the promised land.  It is a tragic thing to do more or less than YHWH commands.

The discussion of Acts and tongues covered that there were fewer apostles than there were nations represented, so that people heard what was said in their own languages.  Further discussion about the gifts of the Spirit and how the speaking in tongues is but one gift of many gifts.

Hebrew lessons were given and Hebrew reading practice commenced. (notes courtesy of Judith)

Sabbath, July 30th  Shul Location Jackson - 1:00-5:00PM

"You can't drive sheep, you have to lead them."

That was with reference to a very troubling concept that no Christians will be in the Kingdom because despite the intentions in their hearts, their lips praise the names of "sun gods." (we found particular dissent with such a thought)  Discussed Torah issues from the current week as well as the previous week, stemming from some observations I had made as a result of checking the math provided in Scripture. The question from the previous week was, "The second census taken just prior to entering the promised land added up all the numbers of each tribe and their clans, but at the end only totaled the number of those "registered" excluding the clans for a deficit of exactly 5000 people." Why 5000? And more significantly, if all the gerim are counted as Yisrael, Why the discrepancy?  Regarding this week's Reading, We did a little more math and discovered the Tribute to YHWH from each of the spoils was exactly 1/500 of the total booty in each category, after the Israelites were divided into 2 groups. (Those who went to battle and those who did not). An example of the 2 and 5 scenario Monte has referred to.  We also had a brief discussion about the eagerness to trust those who write books telling us what we should think regarding our understanding, (or lack there-of) in the Scriptures, it's writers, and our hallacha. One example was the credibility of the 14 generations of Mattithyahu re-designating Yoseph, while the theological world remains silent on this "shout it from the roof-tops" issue. James Trimm reports that the Dutillet Mathew clearly adds the name Avner to the list making the 14 generations in Joseph's line. Although Joseph had no blood of his own in Yeshua's veins; (in my assertion) perhaps the marriage between Miriam and Joseph "making the flesh two as one," would apply. Thanks to Brother Jack for his  usual hospitality, and some interesting potato salad to go with the Shepherd's Pie. Attendance :  myself, Brothers Jack, James, and Randy. Shul this next week -  hosted by Brother Randy.  (Notes courtesy of Brother Troy,  Todah Rabah!)
