Yom Shabbat May 24th , Location Michigan, Harlyn and Peggy Smith's Home 1:00pm-5:00pm Parsha 33 Bechukotai “In My Statutes” May 24, 2008 19 Iyyar 5768 Leviticus 26:3–27:34 Bet Shmuel/2nd Samuel 15, Acts 2 Parsha 33 Wayiqra 26:3- 27:34 3-10 We start this Parsha reading with the wonderful promise of physical blessings if Israel will walk , obediently following YHWH. 11-12 the promise culminates in the awesome spiritual blessing of YHWH's very presence walking among Israel. Which was fulfilled in a temporal sense by the presence of Yahushua on earth. 14-39 YHWH's promise to bring curses upon Israel's disobedience in multiples of 7's ( a number of completeness). Verse 22 Indiana has noted an increase in wild hogs, while most states have also noted an increase in wolves, coyotes, bear, and other carnivores. Is it possible that the term "wild living creatures" could possible include degenerate man? Will the rising price of fuel bring about the prophecy of "desolate highways"? 32-33 this promise was fulfilled upon ancient Israel through different exiles, will it again be fulfilled upon modern Israel who is in dispersion? It is note worthy here that YHWH's 'brit'/covenant is mentioned in 6 passages in this chapter. Attention should especially be given to verse 42. Verses 40-41 set the conditions for verse 42 as humble repentance and acceptance of the punishment being dealt. Also verse 42 appears to be the only place in Scriptures where the Patriarch's are listed in reverse order, giving precedence to the brit/covenant made with Ya'acov/Israel. (see Bereshith 28:13-15 and 48:3-16) Bereshith 48 is particularly important as we see in verse 16 that the name of Yisrael/Ya'acov was to placed upon Efrayim and Menashsheh, thus the covenant made with Ya'acov; mentioned in Wayiqra 26:42 would appear to apply specifically to Efrayim and Menashsheh and their descendants. Vrs. 46 A reminder of whom YHWH had covenanted with. Chpt. 27:2-8 So much for the erroneous though that all mankind are created equal. This has to be a slap in the face to all 'women libbers'. Who are we to challenge Elohim? (notes courtesy of bro. James)
Yom Shabbat May 17th , Location Michigan - Brother James Home 1:00pm-5:00pm Parsha 32 Behar “On Mount Sinai” May 17, 2008 12 Iyyar 5768 Leviticus 25:1–26:2 Bet Shmuel/2nd Samuel 14, Acts 1 Parsha 32 Wayiqra 25:1- 26:2 We know the significance of Atonement but why is the Sabbatical kept at this time rather then at the beginning of the year? The Chumash states that what we are seeing here is: 1) Sabbatical is a physical release. 2)Atonement is a spiritual release. 25:2 The Sabbatical year was to be a time of in depth study of the Torah on a personal level. Since the normal duties of working the fields, as well as harvesting and storing the fruit was not being kept, the people had alot of free time on their hands to dedicate to study. How wonderful this would prove to be in teaching ones children the ways of YHWH ! The Jubilee would play havoc with our economic system today. There would be no multi-generational oppression of the poor. No extremely rich living off the continual oppression of the poor. Every family would re-inherit their lands and possesions. Even when dealing with foriegnors in The Land, the rules of Jubilee prevailed. Verses 45-4. It appears that even the ger has this applied to him, though it may be that he must show that he is embracing Torah and desiring to live as an Israelite. 26:1 "standing image" appears to mean obilisk found throughout our nation and around the world. A true obolisk would have a jar with the remains of a child sacrifice buried at it's foundation. II Schmuel 13:1 See Moshe's notes in the Restoration Scriptures. These events may have caused animosity to grow in Avshalom against David. Yoch. 21; No notes were taken. (notes courtesy of bro. James)
Yom Shabbat May 10th , Location Michigan - Brother Randy's Home 1:00pm-5:00pm Parsha 31 Emor “Say” May 10, 2008 5 Iyyar 5768 Leviticus 21:1–24:23 Bet Shmuel/2nd Samuel 13, John 21 Parsha 31 Wayiqra 21:1- 24:23 21:17- If we are being called to be kings and priests in The Kingdom; then there will have to be a great healing upon us, for most, if not all, of us have some type of 'blemish'! 23:3 " in all your dwellings'; according to the Chumash, was actually speaking of the lands of our dispersion, not our personal dwellings. This reminds me of the questio of where do we keep Shabbat? We know that the Messiah was outside His dwelling, along with His talmidim, when they were seen picking grain upon the Shabbat. But for them to have been seen, so too must have been the Pharisee's) who confronted Yahushua. 23:11 There has been much controversy over which day this is refers to, but verse 15 explicitly states that 7 full weeks are to be counted, not 6 full weeks and 2 partial weeks. 23:14 There are some who claim that no grain (from either the past harvest not the current harvest) could be eaten. This is totally absurd, as this would prevent the eating of matzoth, and the Messiah would ahve been guilty of eating grain during this time when He broke bread at Pesach. Verse 27 appears to be refering to all Christians, this is also true of chpt. 23. 24:5 If the 12 loaves represent the 12 tribes, is it possible that the 2/10th epha of flour represents the remnant who make it through the tribulation? II Schmuel 12 Verse 31 Is this speaking of the killing or servitude of Amnon? Yoch.20 Verse 17 The wave offering had not yet been "lifted up" to YHWH ! This concludes the notes for 5-3.
