This insightful book by Ted Weiland examines the traditional understanding of Romans chapter 13 and presents an alternate view which is more compatible with the Hebraic mode of thinking. Ministers have for centuries said that believers have had to obey the authorities in all matters and when the authorities make laws that compromise the law of the Creator, they usually use their misinterpretation of Romans 13 to excuse themselves for standing up for their faith. Wieland quotes several of America's founders and early preachers who had a better understanding of this troublesome passage. The main thesis of Weiland's alternate view is that believers should not allow government to make laws that go against the laws of Yahweh, and even if government does do this, believers should not follow them or support them. If Weiland's view of Romans 13 would have been followed, the holocaust might never have happened and many other tragedies in history might have been averted if the people of Yahweh had stood up for what is right. This book is powerful and convincing. I suggest it as reading for those concerned with this issue. One Caveat. Weiland is an Anglo-Israelist who makes some negative comments about Judaism. But his thesis, aside from this major shortcoming is sound in my opinion
