April Shul 2005
Friday April 1st 6:00-10:30 PM, Hillsdale Location. This study and fellowship time was refreshing for all of us. The Hebrew Study was Taken from the First Steps in Hebrew Prayer CD and Book set. "Adon Olam," or MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE is a longer Hebrew prayer that we have been reading these last two study times. After the Hebrew studies, Oneg followed, with a meal (special thanks to sister Judith for her tireless efforts to put great food on the table for our Shuls). Sabbath Candles lit, a discussion on their significance. Last Part of the fellowship included board games and discussion into the night.
Friday April 7th 6:00-10:00PM, Hillsdale Location. The Hebrew study finished up the "Adon Olam," or MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE prayer and started the Morning Prayer, or the Shacharit. The house of Judah, those who are observant, pray three times a day, and use different Hebrew prayers during these times. This study guide is excellent for conveying to the readers the authentic Hebrew heritage maintained by the House of Judah. Sabbath Candles lit, blessings recited. Shul progressed to dinner, and then to Fellowship.
Friday April 14th 6:00-10:00PM, Hillsdale Location. Hebrew studies entailed using several vocabulary cards to increase visual recognition and memorization. We have decided to drop the First Step to Hebrew Prayer for now, and work on some intermediary steps before resuming the prayer book. Shabbat candles were lit, blessing recited, Shabbat shalom and Hinei Ma Tov songs sung, meal was served, and fellowship ensued as a new scripture learning strategy game was learned.
Friday April 22nd 6:00-9:15PM, Hillsdale Location. Vocabulary memorization using flash cards. Shema Recited. Sabbath candles lit, blessing recited, songs sung. A meal was served. Preparation for Pesach tomorrow.
Friday April 29nth 6:00-9:30PM, Hillsdale Location. Worked on the memory drills for vowels and consonant sounds and the flash cards with 2 and three syllable words. Many of these words are found over 200 times in the TaNaKh and some of them are found over 600 times.
